One Priest, One Bishop at a Time
Father Jeffery Fasching will offer his first Traditional Latin Mass tomorrow. While the Mass will be private in nature, future Masses will most certainly be publicly scheduled. Please pray for Father Fasching. This is truly a joyous moment for him as a Catholic and a priest.

Dedication of FSSP Seminary Chapel
There is going to be a major event covered by EWTN tomorrow in its entirety. Beginning at 10 AM central time, the Dedication of the Seminary Chapel of the FSSP in Denton, Nebraska will be broadcasted live. Total coverage will be 5 hours, including the dedication and Solemn High Mass offered "in the presence of a greater prelate". This kind of ceremony is only foreseen by the rubrics of the Extraordinary Form when the Ordinary (bishop) of a Diocese attends the Mass from the throne or when a Cardinal is present. It is rare today, as one can imagine, but we will witness it on these shores with a Cardinal for what I believe is the first time since the liturgical reform. I believe the Holy Mass itself will begin around 1 PM central time.

This Sunday after Mass, the Knights of Columbus from St. Agnes will be offering a meal after our Mass. The rate is six dollars per person and twenty dollars for a family. Please bring your appetites on Sunday and meet together with us and Father after Mass! We need a strong showing for the continued offering of events to our community.

High Masses Now the Norm
For Sunday's and Holyday's at St. Agnes according to the Extraordinary Form, congregants will be treated to a Sung Mass as the normative form for these occasions. If Father is unable to sing the parts of the Mass due to illness, a Low (recited) Mass will be offered that day. Come with your prepared voices from now on!
Also: If you do not have an email address on file with the community please submit one as soon as possible as this will become the normative means for the distribution of hymns until hymnals are purchased.

Missouri Blog Hits
I have noticed a number of "hits" to the blog from areas in Missouri not too terribly far from the Cathedral. This is a general note to anyone unable to attend the Extraordinary Form of the Mass for financial reasons to email me. Of particular interest to me are the hits we are getting from Joplin.

Download Flyer -- Get The Word Out!
The link below is to a PDF flyer you can download and print on your printer. You will notice this very same flyer posted at community centers and public libraries around Springfield. Feel free to use it to get the word out. You can post it in places were it is legal (and tasteful) to hang, or you can hand it out to whomever you want. The idea is to direct those interested to this website, and then from here they can find out about mass times, locations, supplies, opportunities to help, and so forth. It saves you a lot of trouble trying to remember and explain it all. Download the Flyer Here
